Not sure which steel fits your resin? We recommend it in the DFM — with HRC hardness and expected mold life.

Mold Class & Expected Life

Pick the class that matches your annual volume — we recommend it in the DFM, with steel and hardness.

Surface Finish Options

We handle all five common cavity surface finishes. For other finish types, please contact us.

SPI A Mirror

SPI A — Mirror

Ra 0.025 – 0.10 μm

Diamond polish. Optical / piano-gloss parts. S136 / NAK80 / 420ESR.

SPI B Semi-gloss

SPI B — Semi-gloss

Ra 0.10 – 0.40 μm

Paper polish. Bright but soft. Visible cosmetic parts.

VDI 24-30 Matte

VDI 24 – 30 — Matte

Ra 1.6 – 3.2 μm

EDM matte. Automotive interior baseline, appliance housings.

Texture Engrave

Texture / Engrave

Supplier-standard or custom

Leather / geometric / wood grain. Chemical etch on demand.

Laser Optical

Laser Optical — Iridescent / Diffractive

Nanoscale grating (Ra ≤ 0.1 μm)

Laser-induced structural color. Rainbow effect, no coating. Mirror base: S136 / NAK80 / 420ESR.

Specialty Options

The specialty molds you're looking for are right within our capability.

Two-shot

Two-shot

Two-material / two-color molds

Rotary table or side-action interlock — both built here. Rigid substrate + TPE grip in one cycle.

Mirror

Mirror

SPI A mirror polish

Sodick mirror EDM + diamond polish. Piano-gloss finish on NAK80, S136, 420ESR.

Thin-wall

Thin-wall

Thin-wall molds

High-flow geometry, precision cores, balanced cooling. For packaging, medical, and consumer parts.

Insert Overmold

Insert / Overmold

Insert & overmold tooling

Metal inserts and TPE/TPU overmolding — for seals, grips, and soft-touch parts.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Question

For more information, please contact us
What's the maximum mold weight you can build? +
Up to 10 tons, trialed on our 90–260T machines. Beyond that we'll tell you honestly.
How fast can I get a DFM analysis? +
Within 48 hours of receiving your 3D (STEP / IGES / X_T / PDF). Free, and we'll say straight if the design isn't moldable as-is.
Do you sign NDAs? Who owns the mold? +
NDA before you send any drawing. The mold is yours — paid for, owned, shippable anywhere.
What tolerance can you hold? +
±0.01 mm standard. ±0.005 mm on micro features via Sodick wire EDM.
Which mold class do I need? +
Depends on your annual volume. We recommend the SPI class (101–105), steel, and hardness in the DFM — see the Mold Class table above.
Do you do two-shot, overmolding, hot runner? +
Yes to all. Two-shot (rotary + side-action), insert/overmolding, hot runner (Yudo / Synventive / Mastip).
How are modifications quoted? +
The quote lists what's included (in-spec mods) and what would be extra — you see the line items before we touch steel. No surprise invoices at buyoff.
Minimum order? +
One mold set. Same process whether it's a prototype tool or a 32-cavity production mold.
How is the mold packed for export? +
VCI anti-rust wrap + reinforced plywood crate + container bracing. Ready to install on arrival.
