Which Mold Steels Do Not Require Annealing?

Some pre-hardened mold steels do not require annealing, such as 718 mold steel and NAK80 mold steel. These steels have already undergone heat treatment before leaving the factory, reaching a certain hardness and performance level. They can be directly machined without the need for additional annealing, effectively shortening the mold manufacturing cycle and reducing processing costs.

There are also some high-speed steels, such as W18Cr4V and W6Mo5Cr4V2, whose structures are stable. After forging, they can be directly subjected to spheroidizing annealing and quenching-tempering treatments, without the need for separate conventional annealing.
