Reflections on the “Six Endeavors for Personal Growth” – A Journey of Growth

Dear friends of Shenghe School,

Hello everyone! I’m Li Yunxia from Moldsteells. I’m truly grateful for this opportunity to share my thoughts and reflections after participating in the “Six Essentials for Self-Improvement” program.

I joined the school on October 10 and attended the East Branch reading session in Dongguan on the 12th. During the meeting, many brothers mentioned how the Six Essentials had greatly benefited their personal and professional growth. Motivated by their stories, I participated in the experience course held in Jiangmen on November 15.

The Six Essentials include:

Making efforts that exceed anyone else’s

Being humble and avoiding arrogance

Reflecting daily

Living with gratitude

Doing good deeds and thinking of others

Not being troubled by unnecessary worries

Each of these principles deeply resonated with our everyday life and work.

Previously, I believed I was already working very hard. But throughout this learning journey, I kept asking myself: “Have I really given it my all?” In reality, I hadn’t. Like many entrepreneurs, we encountered early success and developed a sense of pride, which led to complacency.

However, this year’s trade war drastically impacted our company — revenues dropped by a third. I found myself lost, like a headless fly, searching for clients amid a challenging economic climate and personal difficulties. I wanted to give up.

It was at this time that my boss and business partner, Brother Liping, continuously encouraged me and introduced me to Shenghe School. I owe her my deepest gratitude for not giving up on me. This echoes the fourth principle of the Six Essentials — “Live with gratitude.” I am also thankful for my colleagues and family who supported me throughout.

The fifth essential — “Do good and think of others” — also struck a chord with me. I used to speak bluntly and often hurt others without realizing it. I had good intentions but lacked emotional intelligence. Now, I understand that true kindness lies in caring for others in both words and actions.

Life is full of ups and downs. But when facing adversity, we often become overwhelmed by anger, frustration, and blame. The Six Essentials teach us not to let emotions control us. As Inamori Kazuo says in his book Living the Way of the Heart, “Your mindset determines your destiny.” Only by adjusting our mentality can we regain our sense of purpose and move forward.
